Pilot Program to Launch in Luxembourg
Chinese autonomous driving specialist Pony.ai has entered a new collaboration with multinational carmaker Stellantis to create electric vans equipped with advanced self-driving technology for European roads. The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding outlining plans to begin pilot operations in Luxembourg, with a broader rollout anticipated by 2026. The initiative brings together Stellantis’ strength in electric vehicle production and Pony.ai’s leadership in autonomous mobility systems.

Focus on Smart Commercial Vehicle Deployment
The project will integrate Pony.ai’s AI-driven autonomous platform—combining sensors, navigation modules, and automated control systems—into Stellantis’ light commercial vehicle models under Peugeot, Citroën, and Opel. Designed for both goods delivery and passenger movement, the vehicles will undergo rigorous testing with safety operators on board as part of the approval process with European regulators. The collaboration aims to support growing demand for sustainable, automated transport solutions across cities.

New Venture Strengthens Pony.ai’s Global Expansion Plans
This partnership marks Pony.ai’s official entry into the European market, complementing its existing operations in China and the United States. For Stellantis, the move aligns with its long-term strategy to integrate autonomous driving capabilities into its expanding lineup of electric vehicles. Both companies stressed that safety validation, adherence to EU mobility standards, and robust data protection measures will be key priorities before any commercial introduction begins.
