Chelsea Cruise Past Charlton as Rosenior Debut Win Fails to Quell Fan Anger

Chelsea began the Liam Rosenior era with a comfortable 5-1 FA Cup win over Charlton Athletic, easing into the fourth round with a clinical display from a rotated side. Despite the convincing result, discontent among Chelsea supporters dominated the night, with chants aimed at the club’s owners continuing throughout the match. Rosenior, appointed after the departure of Enzo Maresca, oversaw a controlled performance but could not escape the broader tensions surrounding ownership under Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly.

Goals from Jorrel Hato, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Pedro Neto and a late penalty by Enzo Fernández sealed the win, while Charlton briefly threatened through Miles Leaburn. The debut of highly rated youngster Estevão Willian added excitement, yet did little to soften supporter opposition to the club’s direction. With Arsenal looming in the Carabao Cup, Rosenior will welcome the result, but the lingering unrest suggests his early challenge extends well beyond the pitch.
