Putin warns Europe: “Russia will act instantly if war begins”

Moscow highlights military readiness amid stalled Ukraine talks

President Vladimir Putin addressed reporters in Moscow, stating that Russia has no intention of provoking a war with European countries but is prepared to respond immediately if hostilities arise. He warned that any conflict initiated by Europe would be resolved so quickly that “there would be no one left to negotiate with,” emphasizing the seriousness of his statement as diplomatic efforts over Ukraine remain fragile.

European powers accused of blocking diplomacy

Putin criticized several European governments for impeding peace efforts, claiming that their proposed amendments to a U.S.-backed plan were unacceptable to Russia. He argued that these moves effectively sidelined Europe from meaningful negotiations and suggested that some countries had shifted away from cooperation toward stoking tensions, complicating prospects for a diplomatic resolution.

    Escalating rhetoric threatens negotiation progress

The warning underlines Moscow’s intent to deter further European involvement in the Ukraine conflict by highlighting its readiness to respond without delay. At the same time, it adds pressure to already delicate peace talks, raising concerns that escalating rhetoric could make achieving a negotiated settlement more difficult and prolong uncertainty in the diplomatic process.
